The setting: Costco - Eden Prairie. Thomas, Elise and I started the evening off with a couple (massive) slices of pizza and a glass of lemonade. We've found that when we fill our faces before we "do Costco," we seem to stick with just what's on the list (or at least keep the add-ons to a minimum). Between wrangling Thomas and maneuvering a ridiculously over-sized, fully loaded shopping cart between the throngs of Costco patrons, we were able to work up enough room for a little treat after shopping. Next stop...Cold Stone; however, we still had to get the cart full of goods out the door and into the car.
Then it happened. The straw that broke the camel's back...the coup de grâce...the moment we knew was coming; we just didn't know when. The nice, young loss-prevention woman working the exit door dropped a bomb-shell. "She looks so cute. I'm going to draw a smiley face on your receipt just for her!" As much as I hoped that she was referring to Elise (who was looking very cute, mind you), it was just too obvious to require elaboration. I turned to Elise, "Change of plans; next stop...Kidz Klipz."
After she talked me out of getting his hair cut immediately, we continued on to Cold Stone to wallow in our sorrows and find relief at the bottom of a "Love It" cup.
We decided we needed to take as many pics as we could while the BOY still had his curly, golden locks.
Two days later, we came to terms and got the boy in to Kidz Klips
The first cut. No going back now.
They had a TV with state-of-the-art, built-in VHS capabilities. This was more than enough to keep Thomas entertained/distracted while the nice lady cut his hair (let's call her Karen?).
Karen must have asked about six different times if we were sure we didn't want to keep any of his hair. "Are you sure you don't want to check with his grandparents? Well, I will keep a glob of hair on my towel in case you change your mind." Sorry Grandmas and Grandpas; we didn't keep any of his hair.
No more curls :(
We even got a fancy new certificate, which will be matted, framed, and boxed up, only to be seen each time we move. Just kidding, we threw it in the garbage after a couple of pictures with Thomas holding it!
Thomas was really excited to go on a date after his fresh look. Mama said it adds about six months, so he's right in Sadie's wheelhouse now.
It was tough for these two to keep their hands off of each other.
Here's one for the camera.
Sadie's dad caught her trying to drag Thomas up to her bedroom. He put an abrupt halt to that.
A little squeeze for Sadie while she makes dinner.
And a back rub for Thomas while he does the dishes.
I have a feeling it's going to be tough to keep these two apart in a few years.
